A non-touristic tour………… We mean it. The non-touristic places that every tourist really has to visit.
Fortunately, these places don’t get many tourists as they are hard to reach or because their names are not musical enough
The list below is showing you few of them and explain in short words why you have to visit them

Ibn Tulun mosque. The oldest standing mosque in Egypt and Africa. The mosque is occupying a larger area than any other mosque in Egypt. When other mosques were renovated and rebuilt this one remained with the oldest structure. The place is very charming, peaceful and breathtaking when you climb its minaret to watch Cairo from above.
City of the dead…………..The name itself says it all……….. People dying to go there. That day I finished my tour, watched my group left with the van to their hotel when I’ve decided to stay for a little bit more to watch the sunset from my favorite spot there. 2 tourists were wandering by themselves and they got lost. They approached me to ask how they can get to the main road
- thank God we found someone to ask for directions…….. We were so scared to be here by ourselves when it gets dark
- Yep, I understand how you feel……… this place used to scare me too when I was alive.
Poor guys, they ran too fast before I could explain that I was kidding.
PS. Don’t go there by yourself
The Cave churches. In the middle of the noisy crowded Cairo, suddenly, 2 huge churches were decided to be cut into El Mokattam hills. In the way to reach them, you will have to drive through the Garbage city.

7 TIPS WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE EASIER IN CAIRO

IN ARABIC IS EASIER
Having the address of the place you are going to in Arabic will make you get there very easy. Don't expect that all drivers will understand when you say " Egyptian Museum", or when you say the pyramids. It is easier to have the name written in a piece of paper in Arabic to show the driver to avoid misunderstanding or confusion. How to get the name of the places in Arabic? you can use papa Googletranslate or follow the link here. where we listed lots of the popular places in both Arabic and English, so you can copy and paste them on a note on your phone or copy the whole list and have it on you.
YOUR PLACE OF STAY ADDRESS
It is A B C traveling to grab a card with the address once you get to the hotel. Cairo is a huge city, has hundreds of hostels and hotels. The name of the hostel can be familiar to the people but they still don't know where it is exactly. The card will have the name and the address, in both Arabic and English. If you get lost or your driver doesn't know where that little hostel is located, at least he can take you to the street.
GUNS
Don't ever believe that everyone in Cairo walks with a machine gun. Possession of guns in Egypt is heavily restricted. You won't see a man with a gun unless he is a police, military or under cover police.

HOSTELS TOURS
Most of the hostels in Cairo will offer you tours to the main sightseeing. The tours are really cheap, lots of the them are only transportation and no guide. However, the tours are cheap because they will take you to have a camel ride or to a shop where you will be hassled to buy or ride. Not saying don't take the ride or buy anything, just be ready to spend some effort, time or money to go through this. Camel ride is a nice thing to do when you are by they pyramids, but not when you pay too much ( 200 LE per hour is reasonable)
souvenirs are nice too to buy, but not when you feel like you have to.
ISLAMIC CAIRO
Islamic Cairo is a massive area. There are 2 main areas to visit
Area one has the following famous places: Khan El Khalily market, El Azhar mosque, El Moez street, El Hakim Mosque, Bab El Fotoh, Bab El Naser, El Ghoriya complex, and the best sufi show and music in the country ( happens every Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday. Starts at 730 pm and ends like 845. You will need to be there max. at 7 as every show is fully booked. The place is Called Wekalet El Ghorie وكالة الغوري ). All these places are located very close to each others as you can walk easily from one to another.
Area 2 has the following famous places: The citadel, Mohamed Ali mosque, El Sultan Hassan mosque, El Refaai mosque, Ibn tulun mosque, Gayer Anderson house. However, it is still a long walk between each mosque.
ASWAN AND LUXOR TRAINS
Ramses station is the main station in Cairo, so it has like 12 different platforms going to different directions. Giza station is usually the best to get your train to Aswan or Luxor. it has only 2 platforms and you will find there are many other tourist groups as well. We highly advised you to use Giza station to take your train, unless you stay super close to Ramses station or you don't have enough time to head to Giza station.
SUBWAY DOESN'T GO TO THE PYRAMIDS
However there is a station that is called Giza, it is still not going to the pyramids or near enough. The station is still one hour and half walk away from the pyramids, or 25 minutes with a taxi or a bus. Unfortunately, the best way to get to the pyramids is still a taxi or a private car.
Sakkara is in the middle of no where, don't get smart and take a car that drops you there and leave. The transportation that takes you there has to be arranged to wait for you and takes you back.
