It is A B C traveling to grab a card with the address once you get to the hotel. Cairo is a huge city, has hundreds of hostels and hotels. The name of the hostel can be familiar to the people but they still don't know where it is exactly. The card will have the name and the address, in both Arabic and English. If you get lost or your driver doesn't know where that little hostel is located, at least he can take you to the street. - GUNS
Don't ever believe that everyone in Cairo walks with a machine gun. Possession of guns in Egypt is heavily restricted. You won't see a man with a gun unless he is a police, military or under cover police.
The END. - HOSTELS TOURS
Most of the hostels in Cairo will offer you tours to the main sightseeing. The tours are really cheap, lots of the them are only transportation and no guide. However, the tours are cheap because they will take you to have a camel ride or to a shop where you will be hassled to buy or ride. Not saying don't take the ride or buy anything, just be ready to spend some effort, time or money to go through this. Camel ride is a nice thing to do when you are by they pyramids, but not when you pay too much ( 200 LE per hour is reasonable)
souvenirs are nice too to buy, but not when you feel like you have to. - ISLAMIC CAIRO
Islamic Cairo is a massive area. There are 2 main areas to visit
Area one has the following famous places: Khan El Khalily market, El Azhar mosque, El Moez street, El Hakim Mosque, Bab El Fotoh, Bab El Naser, El Ghoriya complex, and the best sufi show and music in the country ( happens every Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday. Starts at 730 pm and ends like 845. You will need to be there max. at 7 as every show is fully booked. The place is Called Wekalet El Ghorie وكالة الغوري ). All these places are located very close to each others as you can walk easily from one to another.
Area 2 has the following famous places: The citadel, Mohamed Ali mosque, El Sultan Hassan mosque, El Refaai mosque, Ibn tulun mosque, Gayer Anderson house. However, it is still a long walk between each mosque. - ASWAN AND LUXOR TRAINS
Ramses station is the main station in Cairo, so it has like 12 different platforms going to different directions. Giza station is usually the best to get your train to Aswan or Luxor. it has only 2 platforms and you will find there are many other tourist groups as well. We highly advised you to use Giza station to take your train, unless you stay super close to Ramses station or you don't have enough time to head to Giza station. - SUBWAY DOESN'T GO TO THE PYRAMIDS
However there is a station that is called Giza, it is still not going to the pyramids or near enough. The station is still one hour and half walk away from the pyramids, or 25 minutes with a taxi or a bus. Unfortunately, the best way to get to the pyramids is still a taxi or a private car.
Sakkara is in the middle of no where, don't get smart and take a car that drops you there and leave. The transportation that takes you there has to be arranged to wait for you and takes you back.
