Tour summery


900  Group meeting at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC)

Quick introduction of the Museum, and chapter one of the tour 

-Free time for the group to visit the rest of the museum and take pictures

-The group leaves the museum for the second site of the tour, City Of The Dead. 

-Arriving, the group will have to do a bit of walking through the vast city of the dead yard before reaching the mosque and Madrasa of Farag Ibn Barquk. The guide narrates the second chapter of the tour.

-Free time to take pictures of the site and answer questions 

-Group leaves the site for a random local Egyptian cafe and restaurant for a quick lunch, tea, or coffee break.

-arriving at the Victory Road, the Cenotaph of the Unknown Soldier for the third chapter.

300 - 400 pm Tour ends at the gate of the NMEC.


What to Bring / What to Expect

This is a walking tour through open-air sites, so come prepared for Cairo's sun:

  • Water — bring a bottle, especially for summer dates. We'll have stops, but staying hydrated is on you.
  • Sun protection — hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Much of the route is outdoors with limited shade.
  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes — we might be walking on uneven ground, including cemetery paths and mausoleum interiors.
  • Modest dress — light layers are fine, but please keep shoulders and knees covered out of respect for the sites we visit, particularly the Farag Ibn Barquq Mosque.
  • A curious mind — this tour is narrative-led and slow-paced by design. Expect us to linger, not rush.

- Tour doesn't include lunch or drinks

- Tour doesn't include any other/personal expenses that are not mentioned in the itinerary 

- Tour doesn't include tipping for the driver and guide.


Good to know before you go:

  • Groups are capped at 6 travelers — this stays intimate, not a crowd following a raised umbrella.
  • Total walking distance is roughly 1.5 K.M over a couple of hours, with breaks built in between sites.
  • The tour touches on themes of murder, betrayal, and death — evocative, not graphic, but worth knowing going in.


Tour price 


Tour price is 2500 Egyptian pounds per person or 50 US$.

Payment is to be handed to the tour guide upon joining the tour in the morning.
