Mega Coptic and Islamic Cairo
The tour is designed to take you into the rich heart of Cairo. You start with Coptic Cairo, a beautiful and peaceful quarter of the city that is so often forgotten in the crowded map of the sightseeing of Cairo. It is called the Council of Religions in the Heritage Book of Cairo, as it is blessed and known for beautiful Christian churches, Jewish temple and a massive mosque. All standing together, the worshipers of the three religions come and go in harmony daily. You leave Coptic Cairo to have a refreshing drink before you head to visit one of Cairo’s hidden wonders, The Garbage City. Yep, you read the name right. It is where Cairo collects the garbage, and then a hive of tens of thousand workers, drivers and traders work to recycle it. Hundreds thousands tons of garbage recycled every month inside that city.
We will only be allowed to check it during our slow driving through it. However, deep into the heart of the Garbage City we will visit an outstanding monastery (Known as Cave church). This monastery is located in the heart of El Mokatam hills, and is beautifully carved into the rocky surface. Once you arrive you will meet with a local guide from the city and the monastery to tell you the stories and history of the place.
Now it is the time to dive into another page of the long history of Cairo, the Arabic and Islamic era. The tour drives you to the citadel, Saladin's fortress, with its huge structure and beautiful marble mosque marking its center. The mosque can compete hard to win the first place in the list of the most beautiful mosques in Egypt. Later, you can enjoy the fancy panoramic view of Cairo.
by this point you may be tired and hungry, but man we can't stop, still some more to see. However, we can let you grab a quick lunch in the way before we head to the busy market of Khan El Khalily.
Khan El Khalily area can be called the busiest area of Cairo. Both locals and tourists head there in hundreds and thousands to visit, shopping, or just to chill out. It is not fair to the place to try to tell about it through few lines here. You gotta be there yourself to explore it. Guide will point for you at the main things that you can't skip, quickly he will walk you through the market.
Tour will end there, leaving the choice for you to spend some time, or going back to your place of your stay. Guide will help you taking your transportation back or give you useful tips on how to do that when you decide to leave.
